Deloitte Poaches Someone From EY and Issues a Press Release, Part I

Unless it’s buried in the archive somewhere, it’s hard to believe that in the almost 11-year history of this website we’ve never done a post about Deloitte poaching someone from EY (although we have pointed out that EY has lurked in Deloitte’s LinkedIn group looking for new warm bodies), but here we are.

Hugo Parson

Because there isn’t a whole helluva lot of hiring going on anywhere among the Big 4 because of a deadly pandemic, we have to go back to a simpler, happier time—early March—to find some Big 4-on-Big 4 poaching action. And we have to go to the Queen’s Deloitte to get our fix.

This dapper-looking chap on the left, Hugo Parson, was hired away from EY U.K. to lead Deloitte U.K.’s origination team for private equity.

The Green PR Machine said this about Parson:

At Deloitte, Parson will head up a cross-border team to identify investment opportunities for financial investor clients. This is the most recent of a number of senior hires boosting Deloitte’s market presence in the sector and shows its continued commitment to addressing client needs.

Emma Cox, Managing Partner for Deloitte Private, commented: “Hugo joins our leadership team where he will build and grow our M&A deal origination capability. As the investment landscape continues to tilt from public to private and an increase in corporate divestitures, Hugo’s experience and expertise will help us access the broader opportunity and deliver our end to end capabilities.”

Parson commented: “Deloitte’s Private Equity team has big ambitions which I look forward to helping deliver. I am extremely excited by the opportunity to leverage Deloitte’s global platform for the benefit of an extensive client base.”

Hugo knows private equity, having served as global head of origination for private equity at EY during his seven-year tenure with the Black and Yellow.

EY’s Work on This One Bank Project Was So Bad They Had to Refund the Client

Apologies in advance to that one guy in the comments who always accuses us of being mean to EY for no reason. Not our fault they end up in the headlines for stuff worth making fun of. It appears the ever talkative “people familiar with the matter” blabbed recently to Financial Times about an EY […]
