Transfer Out of Salt?

Hello,

I interned in B4 SALT last summer and really enjoyed it. The people were great, the work wasn't bad and had a lot of fun. I'm slated to start full time in July, however I've been having cold feet as I've talked to other tax professionals and noticed that SALT:

  • Is a very niche area (less exit/professional growth options)
  • More often than not, takes 3 years to make senior
  • Limiting view of tax; completely obscuring federal portion

Those are the three main reasons of why I'm starting to get a bit worried of my career even before I've started it.

Should I try and transfer out of SALT and into Fed Tax? I just haven't heard much positives versus the negatives of not transferring.

Thank you.
