IT Audit for life?

Background:

  • BA in Accounting, CPA, CISA
Few years experience in IT audit at midsize public accounting firm.
Recently started new role as an IT auditor in internal audit at a large retail company.

I like the IT/Info Sec world that I’ve found myself in, even though my education was only in Accounting (no IS/MIS). I like IT audit, but don’t know if I want to do it forever. Does my lack of a formal IT education put me at a disadvantage when applying for jobs outside of IT audit?

Am I destined to remain an IT auditor for the rest of my career?
