Big 4 audit associate — found out not eligible to sit CPA exam

Hi, I am an audit associate from a big four firm. I just found out I need additional hours in order to meet the requirements to sit the CPA exam in my state.

1. What is the best way to resolve this issue and inform the firm?

2. How are they likely to react/handle this issue? What are probable conseuqences for me?

3. Do they even care since I'm only an associate?

Please help — thanks
