Internships question

I'm currently in my third year of undergrad, planning on graduating with a double major in French and Accounting. I plan to get my CPA by the end of the summer after I gradute (summer of 2018), and want to do a grad school program abroad for a year after I graduate. Right now everyone is applying for internships, but I have no idea what firm I want to work for in the future, whether I want to go into audit or tax, and with my plans to go abroad to get a masters, I'm not sure if getting an internship this summer is necessary. How necessary are summer internships for accounting students? Do firms place internships above steady jobs and study abroad experience?

Thank you!
