Yet another reason why the AICPA has failed us as a profession. Their lobbying efforts against overtime reform are a net negative for the sustainability of our profession. They merely carry water for the big firm partners who aren’t far off from retirement and don’t care about the future of the profession because it won’t be their problem anymore by the time the bill comes due and there’s no qualified staff anymore. It will be our problem, that is if we bother staying in this profession at all.
“Accounting Emergencies” exist due to a lack of organization, planning, and execution….we all know what needs to be done each year, it’s never a surprise.
Ultimately the shortage of accountants is actually a shortage of decent/good accountants. There is no shortage of bad accountants.
