Hey everyone, I accepted a full time offer within the FS tax group at EY in NYC and I researched various websites (GC, reddit etc.) to get a clearer idea of what to expect. However, I've been seeing two very different opinions. Some people say that the work is mind numbing, the hours atrocious and after a few years in public I'll be stuck doing endless back office work. On the other hand, others say that FS tax is the "best" or rather most competetive tax group to be in NYC, because the pay is better and jumping ship to a hedge fund will come with a very hefty pay increase. I've also heard people mention that you can go from FS tax into FS advisory later in your career. Can anyone with FS experience comment on what is the general consensus about this industry? Thank you!
