The Fortune 100 Best Companies to Work For: Crowe #81 (2020)

Wrapping up our overview of the 2020 Fortune 100 Best Companies to Work For list is Crowe. While Plante Moran and the Big 4 have been on the list for 15-plus or 20-plus consecutive years, Crowe is a relative newbie, as this is the third straight year it has made the F100BCTWF.

Crowe takes this recognition very seriously. So seriously that it dressed CEO Jim Powers like Mister Rogers and rolled him out in front of a camera to announce that Crowebies get an extra paid holiday on the Friday before Memorial Day, to make it a four-day weekend. Wowzers! Mister Powers also announced that the firm would donate 10 meals in honor of each Crowe employee through Feeding America’s food banks to help families in need. OK that’s pretty cool.

Previous ranking: #68. Here’s why Crowe made this year’s ranking, according to Fortune:

Having recently reported eight years of consecutive growth, the accounting, technology, and consulting firm says 90 percent of personnel rely heavily on flexible scheduling and telecommuting to meet deadlines and outperform competition. Many employees have said they’ve leaned on the policy to be present for first days of school or special family circumstances while hitting, if not surpassing, expectations at work too. “There is a lot of trust and professionalism,” says one about the policy. The idea extends to community service, too, since Crowe offers up to eight volunteer hours per employee each month. In one instance, nearly 100 remotely located employees volunteered their time to review and select college applications for a Florida high school scholarship fund.

Stats of note:

  • Employees: 4,369
  • Number of job openings: 407 (as of February 2020)
  • Percentage of job growth: 4%
  • Number of new graduates hired: 349
  • Percentage of women: 44.6%
  • Percentage of minorities: 19.9%
  • Most common salaried job: N/A
  • PTO limit (days): 38
  • Number of sick days: 30
