Non-compete agreement

Hello All:

First and foremost, I wanted to thank everyone for the hilarious comments that are posted on this website. I enjoy reading the posts and blogs on this website.

I have a question regarding a “non-compete agreement”. I recently accepted an offer with a small CPA firm. Eventually, I’d like to work for a big 4 firm, however, the new gig will require me to sign a “non compete Agreement”. I find it strange for such a small firm (30 employees) to have me sign one of those, and I’m afraid it will bite me in the ass when I get ready to take on a big 4 opportunity.

Has anyone ever signed one of these agreements? What should I do?

Thanks
