Layoffs Watch: Big 4 Texas

Here's one from the mailbag:

Big 4 in Houston and Dallas have been laying staff off due to "performance reasons." I wonder if this is going to trickle down to other regions as well given the declining oil market.

Good question! Here in Colorado, big names like Anadarko and Encana have shed jobs but there hasn't been any collateral damage to the accounting firms that I'm aware of. (If you are aware, then email us.)

In Texas, FuelFix reports that there's been 84,000 jobs lost, citing stats from the Texas Alliance of Energy Producers, so it seems plausible that offices with a large base of energy clients could be cutting people. This tip is the first we've received about layoffs post-busy season and 'tis the season.

Does your firm or office have a lot of exposure to the energy market? Have their been layoffs or talks of layoffs? Send us a tip or let us know in the comments.
