“Experienced Hire” Big 4

What does it mean to be brought on as an experienced hire? I recently applied for a Senior position only for the recruiter to ask if I would consider an Experienced Hire position…

I have also been exploring other opportunities and have been in touch with other companies for Manager and Director roles…

Does Experienced Hire mean you are less than a Senior but more than a staff? Or does it mean they aren’t exactly sure how to place you and if you perform better than a Senior-level employee, then they can promote you directly to Manager from Experienced Hire?

Also, what is the average salary for an “Experienced Hire”?
