Here’s How Your CPA Exam Score Releases Will Look Once Continuous Testing Launches July 1

Not only is it June, it’s almost summer. I’d ask where the first half of the year went but I already know, it circled down the drain in true 2020 fashion. Whatever happened the first two quarters may not be entirely behind us now but what we do know is that, Rona be damned, TPTB are chugging along with their plan to launch continuous testing next month.

At the beginning of the year, we had only the first two quarters of CPA exam score release dates, with the second half of the year sort of TBD. And then things happened that made it seem as though CPA exam candidates might not be able to test until the first of Never, but thankfully all that is slowly but surely improving. Candidates are still reporting difficulty securing their desired testing dates and locations in some instances but that’s to be expected, and I wouldn’t bank on that changing anytime soon. But hey, I was able to buy toilet paper on Amazon for the first time in three months the other day so if that’s working, maybe the rest will be figured out soon as well.

Alright so score release dates. Here you go!

Testing Window: July 1 – December 31, 2020

If you take your exam on/before: Your target score release date is:
July 23 August 7
August 16 August 25
September 8 September 16
September 30 October 9
October 23 November 10
November 16 November 24
December 8 December 16
December 31 January 12

Dates via AICPA

As you can see, testing windows are no longer come July 1 which, as we know, means you can schedule a retake as soon as you find out you’ve failed a section. If you can find a seat at Prometric, that is. If you haven’t been to Prometric lately because of that whole global pandemic thing, you may want to take a sec to review the safety procedures they’ve put in place to prevent y’all from infecting all the future nail technicians at the test center. Those of you with allergies may want to think about popping something non-drowsy before your exam as they reserve the right to turn you away should you show up on exam day with suspiciously Rona-like symptoms. All things to keep in mind.

The wholesale annihilation of blackout periods should also help with coronavirus-related difficulties in scheduling exams, not to mention facilitate candidates’ constant urge to put things off until the last possible minute. Now you can sit for the CPA exam right up until the last day of the year. How exciting for those of you who favor procrastination!

As we’ve been saying for the last, oh, three months, it’s important to keep in mind that practical application isn’t always as neat and clean as plans made on paper, so given our experiences this year so far, let’s keep in mind that shit can and does happen so try and be prepared. Given the fact they managed to stay on schedule and go forward with continuous testing as discussed way back in 2019, despite all the craziness in the world, I’d say things look good for a smooth continuous testing launch. Still, it’s 2020. You never know, maybe July 1 is the day aliens finally make their big, loud descent to Earth. Nothing’s too out there at this point.
