Age and accounting as a second career

Here's one from the mailbag:

I really enjoyed your article on accounting as a second career. I'm just curious, realistically, how old is too old to consider a second career in accounting? I'm thinking about a Macc program, and I'm not 42.  Will be pushing 45 before I finish.  Is this too old? Thanks so much for your time.
