Accountant Behaving Badly: In This Instance, CPA Is An Acronym For ‘Child Predator Asswipe’ (Allegedly)

New Jersey Certified Public Accountant and accused Child Predator Asswipe Amit Bhatt was arrested last week and charged with sexual assault and endangering the welfare of a child who is a preteen. The Bergen County, NJ Prosecutor’s Office issued the following press release on Jan. 27:

Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced the arrest of AMIT BHATT (DOB: 7/05/1979; married; employed as an accountant) of Morris Plains, NJ on sexual assault and child endangerment charges. The arrest is the result of an investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Jason Love and the Lyndhurst Police Department under the direction of Chief Richard Jarvis.

On Tuesday, January 11, 2022, the Lyndhurst Police Department contacted the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit regarding the alleged sexual assault of a child. An investigation by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office and the Lyndhurst Police Department revealed that AMIT BHATT sexually assaulted the victim, a child younger than 13.

As a result of the investigation, on Tuesday, January 25, 2022, AMIT BHATT was arrested in Parsippany, NJ, and charged with second-degree sexual assault by sexual contact, N.J.S.A. 2C:14-2b; and third-degree endangering the welfare of a child, N.J.S.A. 2C:24-4a(1). BHATT was remanded to the Bergen County Jail pending his first appearance in Central Judicial Processing Court in Hackensack, NJ.

According to the Daily Voice, Bhatt is accused of masturbating in front of the child who resides in Lyndhurst. A Superior Court judge freed Bhatt from the jail late last Wednesday following his arrest the day before, the Daily Voice reported. He was also wanted on an outstanding warrant out of Parsippany-Troy Hills.

Several news outlets reported that Bhatt has his own CPA practice in West Caldwell, NJ, which checks out. A quick Google search found a Venditti Deutsch & Bhatt CPAs based in West Caldwell.

The firm’s website says that Amit Bhatt is a managing principal who “has over 14 years experience in public accounting and is a licensed CPA in New Jersey.” It also states:

Amit deals with closely held businesses as well as high-net worth individuals in assisting with financial and tax planning matters.  He works extensively with his clients to provide a high level of service and expertise and prides himself on being responsive and reliable. Amit earned a Bachelors degree in Economics from Rutgers University and also received his MBA in Accounting from William Paterson University.

No word yet on whether Bhatt is still associated with the accounting firm, but in a couple instances at the bottom on the home page the firm is now referred to as Venditti & Deutsch CPAs.
