Seeing multiple posts about audit Staff 1s getting let go from EY this week, it’s unclear how many are affected and if other service lines should brace for impact as we head toward the end of EY’s fiscal year (June 30).

Pretty brutal to get let go before you’ve even found your footing at the firm. OP theorizes, as they should, that it’s not AI that’ll be picking up their work:

Elsewhere:

According to EY’s 2025 audit quality report, they had 13,804 people total in audit in fiscal 2025; that’s 1,443 partners and managing directors, 3,357 senior managers and managers, and 9,004 seniors and staff. They say they hired 2,350 audit professionals from college and university campuses in fiscal 2025.

Meanwhile, the firm just announced the opening of a 40,000 square feet AI center at EY GDS in Bengaluru, India. They’re calling it the “ey.ai Center for Reimagination.”

Anyone affected is welcome to reach out via email or text to vent.
