We only just now saw this as we hadn’t gotten any tips about it and happened to see it on Reddit. Contrary to popular belief, we don’t spend all day on Reddit scanning for things to write about. Really hoping this guy wasn’t on the audit squad.
Seeing several posts about layoffs at Deloitte, specifically in audit. Among the newly laid off this week are senior managers which, genuinely, wtf?

I was one of the people hit by this today. Received the invite last night at 9:30 pm. Luckily I didn’t see it until this morning. I am a Senior Manager. I have 2 weeks transition time, but one of those I was already scheduled for PTO so I’m basically done at the end of the week.
getting 9 weeks severance, and they did say they would pay out AIP bonus.
Honestly, I was getting the feeling that leadership wanted to slim down or even possibly eliminate my team. It still hurts a little and I was a bit surprised as I am the SME on my team on certain projects and they’ll likely lose some steam and abilities with me gone, but I can’t help that.
The annoying thing about all this is how impersonal it felt. My manager was clearly reading from a script on her screen, didn’t even say anything personal to me, say sorry, none of that. Knowing they had a lot of these meetings to do today makes that part make sense, they just have to churn through them.
Is it possible that layoffs are random though? Or does each team/each leader get a quota to hit and then they have the decision of who to layoff?
Imagine if layoffs were random. With the way these firms have been cutting and replacing people with offshore staff these past few years we might get there.
The lesson here is don’t do any of that shit because they’ll let you go anyway for the crime of pulling a higher salary than someone thousands of miles away.
