Posted on August 19, 2009 by Caleb Newquist

Bess and Greg are getting entrepreneurial over at DB and are probably going to need someone help them count the asston of cash they’re going to rake in as a result.
Those of you thinking about forming your own firm to pick up the ganja engagement probably have the best shot.

Fill Wrap Up and Final Performance Review

  • Caleb Newquist
  • August 17, 2009

For you duffers out there awaiting our Fill wrap up, we’re sure that your anxiety levels have reached such a level that you gave serious consideration to holding up the nearest drug store to get your mitts on some Zoloft. Fortunately, your patience has paid off as this post will wrap up our Fill coverage and also serve as official final performance review.
Thank the Maker that this one is over. Fill managed to shoot another +4 round yesterday to finish at +12 for the tournament and lock up his quest to not finish second at the PGA Championship. The silver medal went to…Tiger Woods unexpectedly but we’ll let the sports geeks dissect that one.
As for us, we’re here to give you Fill’s final 9 box rating and to give you an idea of what his future with the Radio Station looks like.
Check out the final rating after the jump.

As you can see, no final 9 box rating was necessary. Fill’s future is as bright as ever. He will continue to do grip n’ grins with Tim Flynn and he will need to use dumptrucks to transport all of his cash. This all will occur while he has consistently disappointed on the golf course but thrived as a billboard for the Radio Station by pulling a hat down on his melon.
Hmmm, an underachiever but consistently rewarded. Sound like anyone you know?

Today in Bad Decisions: Borrowing Money from Your Ex-Mother-in-Law

  • Caleb Newquist
  • October 23, 2009

mother-in-law.jpgDo you have a mother-in-law? How well do you get along with her? Not good, huh? Whatever differences you may have, surely it’s not this bad:

When a former son-in-law in Illinois failed to settle an asserted loan by his ex-mother-in-law to her satisfaction, she gave up on collecting but issued a 1099-C reporting the amount as debt forgiveness income.
Ex-Son-in-Law took it badly, and fought back. He sued Ex-Mom, claiming that because she wasn’t required to issue a 1099-C, it was fraudulent for her to do so.

Borrowing money from your mother-in-law, let alone your ex-mother-in-law is not what we would consider a good life decision. Jesus, especially if you’re a deadbeat. We understand that times are tough but hey, next time around he’ll know.
So this guy is in a tough spot. Solution? Sue her for fraud, of course! The judge in the case said someone issuing an unnecessary 1099 did not constitute fraud so the son’s only remedy now is to argue that the contents of said 1099 were fraudulent. Good luck with that, man. You’re finished.
