Job Description:

About the Role
Our client  is hiring an Accounting Manager to join a tight-knit team of five supporting monthly Client Accounting Services (CAS) engagements across a diverse portfolio of clients, with a focus on the trades industries. This remote, results-driven role blends hands-on financial ownership (about 30%) with strategic oversight (about 70%) across an even client load. The ideal candidate is a self-starter with strong communication skills, a passion for process improvement, and comfort working alongside AI-driven tools and workflows as the team continues to scale.

Responsibilities

  • Own full-cycle client financials, including AP/AR, bank reconciliations, budgeting and forecasting, month-end close, P&L/balance sheet/cash flow reporting, payroll processing, and sales tax compliance
  • Mentor and develop two in-house bookkeepers, including a sales tax/payroll specialist, on best practices
  • Design, standardize, and optimize scalable financial processes to improve accuracy and efficiency
  • Provide light-touch client coordination as needed (CPAs manage primary client relationships)
  • Support seasonal tax work, including preparing client documents and entering return data as needed (secondary responsibility)

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business
  • Strong understanding of how financial statements interconnect
  • Demonstrated experience overseeing payroll, sales tax compliance, and client financial management
  • Track record of identifying inefficiencies and building improved workflows
  • Experience mentoring junior staff
  • Proficiency in QuickBooks Online (QBO)
  • Comfortable using video conferencing tools (Zoom/Teams) for team and client meetings
  • Strong professional communication skills and a self-starter mindset

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with AI tools and workflows
  • Familiarity with TaxDome or similar practice management software
  • Multi-state sales tax experience or trades industry knowledge
  • Experience with payroll systems such as QBO, Gusto, OnPay, or ADP
  • Master’s degree in Accounting or equivalent

Benefits

  • Fully remote position
  • Competitive salary: $85,000–$110,000 DOE, plus performance bonus potential for the right candidate
  • Health insurance or a $300–$500/month stipend
  • 401(k) with 3% match, plus profit share
  • 2 weeks PTO, plus a paid week off December 24–January 1 and major US holidays (excluding Labor Day, due to tax extension season)
  • Company-owned Mac, dual monitors, and all peripherals provided
  • $40/month internet and phone reimbursement
  • Clear growth path toward a CAAS Director role

Remote Work Requirements

  • Reliable high-speed internet (300 Mbps+ up/down)
  • Quiet, professional home workspace suitable for video calls
  • Desk and chair setup (provided by employee)
  • Fixed working hours during training and until proficiency is demonstrated
