CPA Exam Discipline Testing Extended For Candidates Disrupted By the Snow Storm

Who wants some good news? What kind of miserable jerk doesn’t!?

Last week, we warned anyone scheduled to take the CPA exam that Prometric test center closures were inevitable as a massive snow and ice storm threatened to hit two-thirds of the country. The storm has come and gone and a quick check of Prometric’s closure site yesterday evening showed that 60 centers were still closed across the country as of Tuesday; as of publication time today, it’s down to a little more than a dozen. Yay, the country is healing. From the storm, that is.

In our article, we pointed out that January is a discipline testing window, one of only four months candidates can sit for TCP, BAR, or ISC for the entire year. Which meant closures could force some candidates to push their discipline testing out until the next chance in April.

Now for the good news.

As spotted via @NASBA tweet, they’ve had mercy on you all and opened up a few extra days of discipline testing:

Text:

Due to weather-related test center closures across several states, over 500 CPA Exam candidates scheduled to take a discipline between January 23 – 28, 2026, were displaced. Candidates who were scheduled to test at these centers and were impacted by closures are now able to reschedule their Exam appointment for February 1 – 3, 2026. There is capacity at all test centers, so impacted candidates should be able to reschedule on their own.

We’re sure some of you will find a way to be salty about this (not an icy sidewalk pun) but as far as we’re concerned, it’s something.
