Comp Rumor of the Day: Some BDO USA Auditors Are Getting Raises, Some Are Not

[Updated with additional information.]

While I was on staycation last week, this came through the tipline:

BDO audit will be giving raises of 2% on average on 11/1. Some employees will receive nothing, some less than 2%, and some more than 2%.

We haven’t heard anything yet about possible raises at Bravo Delta Oscar for those in tax and advisory. As our tipster mentioned, Nov. 1 seems to be the day when promotions and raises will be announced at BDO, which is later than in previous years.

I know times are tough because of COVID, but a 2% average raise for auditors at a firm that boasted about its resiliency and an 11.3% increase in FY 2020 revenue seems pretty skimpy.

If any other BDOers in assurance can confirm what we were told about raises, let us know by using the contact info below.

[UPDATE] Heard from another BDOer in assurance this afternoon who confirmed some employees in that service line will get raises and some won’t, but this person said the raises are capped at 2%.

It wasn’t communicated to us that people could get more than 2%. That could apply to people that are getting promoted to a new level such as senior to manager.

We’ll continue to update this article if we receive any additional info.

  1. I’m an audit manager at BDO. I’ve heard the cap is 3% and that’s reserved for promotions and “top performers”

    1. All pay reductions being restored through bonus in December for all departments not just tax. Comp increases vary based upon performance and its not capped.
