On a day like today, we never thought we’d be telling you about a firm actually spending money but color us surprised.
Deloitte will start issuing iPhones to partners, principals, and directors starting Monday, according to a tip we received and will be available to “eligible personnel on Monday, September 14.”
So the obvious question is who the hell is eligible? The trend seems that senior associates haven’t been getting squat so our money would be on the new hires getting the new toys gadgets business tools in order to write down everyone’s order for take out but we’ll keep our fingers crossed for you SA’s.

Bonus Watch ’11: Some Details on KPMG’s New Utilization Bonuses
- Caleb Newquist
- December 23, 2010
Who cares what they’re doing in Luxembourg, anyway? Our tipster qualifies some of these numbers for the new bonus program but assures us that they’re in the ballpark.
Details of the utilization bonus came through to managers in the NY Office to prepare them for the announcement to staff. Payments will be made in April and October based on total billable hours. Three Tiers T1 – 1700 hours, T2 1800 hours, T3 1900 hours, must meet or exceed hours listed. Bonus amounts based on base salary and level.
Associates are as follows as a percentage of base (might be slightly off, SA here and didn’t pay much attention to Associates pay) T1 – 2% T2 – 3%, T3 – 4%. Senior Associates T1 – 2.5%, T2 3.75%, T3 5%. So for a year if you reach 1900 hours, 950 Oct-April and 950 April-Oct, you would have received 10% of your base pay as a bonus broken into 2 payments.
I might have some of the numbers slightly off, as I read over my managers shoulder, and am only interested in Tier 3 SA as I had 2100 billed hours last year, but I think they are generally accurate. This was for IT Advisory. I know other Advisory practices have the same pay out rates but lower hour expectations by tier. No idea about Audit or Tax.
UPDATE: Tables from the advisory email that was sent out earlier today:

If anyone can confirm these numbers for IT Advisory, please get in touch. Likewise, [I]f you’re in other advisory groups, audit or tax and have the details, email us and we’ll update.
Here Are the (Unconfirmed) Details on the Milestone Award for Newly Promoted PwC Senior Associates
- Caleb Newquist
- August 19, 2011
As you may remember, we detailed PwC’s new compensation structure back in spring to much fanfare. There were lots of details but one that sounded especially interesting were the “Milestone Awards.” These are awards given to newly promoted Senior Associates, Managers and Senior Managers/Directors. Specifically for SAs, a “highly specialized individualized offsite training that will help the new seniors make decisions about their careers. This will last for 12-18 months as they adjust to their new roles and held in an offsite, marquis location.”
We now have a few unconfirmed (due to circumstances beyond our control) details for you for this “training” including the “offsite, marquis location”:
• Terranea Resort in Palos Verdes, CA (near Long Beach/LA)
• 4 days long
• For New Senior Associates promoted July 2011
• Not a training/all about fun and celebration
• Gift to new senior associates (all lines of service)
• Monday huge celebration dinner
• Small groups of 10 people
• External experts on personal finance, wellness, nutrition, etc
• Nightly fireside chats with partners
• Adventure-style activitiesWeeks
1) Nov 14, 2011
2) Dec 5, 2011
3) Dec 12, 2011
4) May TBD 2012
5) June TBD 2012
Fireside chats? Like the kind with FDR? For your sake I hope Bob Moritz and/or Dennis Nally drop by for the fun, although don’t forget that Nally is done with hot yoga, so DON’T BOTHER ASKING.
And doesn’t the Terranea Resort look pleasant? It’s in California not surprisingly, since P. Dubs has had NOTHING BUT TROUBLE from the clowns in Florida. There is golf, a spa, ocean view dining, etc. etc. Here’s the photo and video gallery if you need more visuals. Of course this kind of romantic setting is perfect for romantic interludes that will allow PwC to perpetuate any incestuous master race of capital market servants they might have.
ANYWAY, it’s our understanding that these details are to be released later this month but we thought you’d like a sneak peak. Discuss your thoughts and/or envy in the comments.
