Job Description:Â
Our client is seeking experienced data scientists to evaluate how advanced AI models perform real-world data science work, from messy-data analysis and experiment design to model validation and SQL/Python development. You’ll use your professional judgment to design realistic tasks and grade AI output against the standard you’d hold a colleague to. This is fully remote, self-directed work where clear written reasoning matters as much as technical depth.
Key Responsibilities
- Design realistic data science tasks drawn from your own experience (e.g., exploratory analyses, A/B test readouts, model validation, SQL pipelines, forecasts), including prompts and supporting files such as datasets, schemas, notebooks, and stakeholder briefs.
- Run tasks through frontier AI models and evaluate the resulting analyses, code, models, and write-ups against a professional standard.
- Compare paired model outputs, determine which performed better, and document shortcomings.
- Write detailed grading rubrics and tests defining what a correct deliverable must include, with written pass/fail justifications.
- Flag concrete failures with evidence, such as data leakage, confounding, incorrect joins, misapplied tests, or off-brief interpretations.
- Review and refine tasks built by other experts.
Required Experience and Qualifications
- 2+ years of applied data science experience preferred (analytics, ML, statistical modeling, experimentation, or analysis-adjacent data engineering); undergraduate study does not count. Strong practical work may offset less experience.
- Current or recent hands-on, individual-contributor experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field, completed or in progress; advanced degree a plus but not required.
- Working proficiency in Python and/or SQL.
- Depth in at least one area: business analytics/BI, applied ML, statistics and experimentation, forecasting, data engineering, or applied NLP/computer vision.
- Experience owning a multi-step analysis end to end, from raw data to a decision.
- Ability to assess whether results are valid (leakage, confounding, selection effects, multiple testing, power) and interpret them in business or scientific terms.
- Familiarity with AI/LLM tools and the judgment to spot plausible but incorrect answers.
- Full professional or native-level English with strong written communication.
- Strong attention to detail, comfort with ambiguity, and ability to work independently from written instructions.
Benefits
- Competitive pay: 40–125/hour, paid via PayPal on a regular schedule
- Fully remote with flexible scheduling and multi-day task timers
- Scalable hours: 10-hour weekly minimum, full-time hours available
- Tools provided: Access to leading AI platforms at no cost
- Paid at every completed stage, including training and task proposals
- Support and growth: Onboarding materials, dedicated Slack channel, office hours, expert feedback, and opportunities to advance into reviewer roles
Application Process
- Apply to this job
- We’ll review your resume
- If your experience is a good fit for the work, we’ll send you a link to an assessment (unpaid; about 2–4 hours). All work must be your own; AI-assisted submissions are rejected.
- If you pass, complete onboarding and a short paid training project.
- Propose a task from your experience and receive expert feedback.
- Once accepted, build the full task and test it against frontier models.Â
- Each stage must be accepted before moving forward, and revisions are a normal part of the process.
