Two Years After Being Shot In Las Vegas, EY Accountant Tina Frost ‘Remains Positive’ Despite More Surgeries, Family Says

Tina Frost, an accountant at EY in San Diego, had yet another surgery on Sept. 30, almost two years to the day when she was shot in the head while attending the Route 91 Harvest Festival on the Las Vegas Strip with her boyfriend, Austin Hughes, and some of their friends.

Fifty-eight people died and hundreds were wounded in the horrific mass shooting on Oct. 1, 2017. In an update on Tina’s GoFundMe page on Sept. 30, her family asked to keep Tina, her boyfriend, their friends, and all those affected by the shooting in your thoughts this week:

Hi everyone,
Yes, Tina will be having yet another surgery tomorrow, Monday, 9/30/19 here in Maryland. Tina will be undergoing surgery exactly two years from the Route 91 festival where Tina, Austin, and their close friends were enjoying the second day of the concert, just one day before the most horrific mass shooting on October 1, 2017. The doctors have said that the skin under her brow is very thin and they may have to take the implant out around her brow. Yes this is a step back, but we are confident in Tina’s team and know they are doing the best possible work for her and don’t know everything they will do until they get in there and open her up. Please keep Tina, Austin, our family, their friends and everyone that was effected by this heinous act of violence tomorrow and throughout this week.

A native of Crofton, MD, Tina underwent surgery to repair the area of skin around her right eyelid/eyebrow last March.

She also endured another surgery on Sept. 10, her mom, Mary Watson Moreland, posted on Tina’s GoFundMe page in early September, but Moreland said Tina is continuing to stay positive during her recovery:

Tina and Team Tina are preparing for yet another surgery tomorrow, Tuesday, September 10th. As the two year mark approaches in less than three weeks, Tina is still in therapies and endless doctors appointments, but remains positive and is slowly trying to work out more. With Austin at her side, her dad Rich, and Austin’s family on the West Coast, her mom Mary, Craig, and her family on the East Coast, her friends and co-workers from all over the Country, and her doctors and therapists…we are all #TinaStrong. Thank you for keeping Tina and all of us in your thoughts and prayers!

Tina and her boyfriend drove from San Diego to Las Vegas for the outdoor country music concert. When the shooting erupted from the 32nd floor of the Mandalay Bay Hotel during the evening of Oct. 1, a single bullet struck Frost in the forehead, piercing the frontal lobes of her brain before ricocheting and landing in her right eye. She was in a coma for about two weeks.

Following the shooting, doctors removed Frost’s right eye and took a section of her skull to remove bullet fragments and allow her brain to heal.

To date, the GoFundMe page has raised $620,352 from more than 10,400 donors, which will go toward Frost’s medical expenses and recovery. The fundraising goal was $50,000.

As we’ve previously noted, several donations have been made from Tina’s EY family, which is awesome.
