Ditching the 9-5 grind–or choosing never to enter it at all–takes serious cojones. So you full-time freelancers: what gave you the courage to do it? And what advice would you give others who want to set off on their own?

Freelancer in a related field. 
Courage:  my wife’s income.
Advice:  marry into big law or private equity.  
I suppose there are other paths, but this one worked for me.
