This is not your typical “life after Big 4” career move, but Graham Neff will likely make more money as the new director of athletics at Clemson University than he would had he ended up staying at Deloitte.

Before Clemson, Neff served two-plus years in several senior administrative roles at Middle Tennessee State Athletics, with emphasis in finance, facilities, and external operations. He began his career in college athletics as a student manager for the men’s basketball program at Georgia Tech, which advanced to a Final Four in 2004.
Neff then went to work in the Financial Advisory Services group at Deloitte and Touche from 2006-08, prior to returning to a finance and ticketing role at the Georgia Tech Athletic Association.
The former Deloitter, who had served as Clemson’s acting athletic director since Dec. 10 when Dan Radakovich officially left the university for the same job at the University of Miami, was named the 14th AD in the school’s history on Dec. 23. Neff, 38, joined Clemson in 2013 and took on several leadership roles within the athletic department, including CFO, director of capital projects, and deputy director of athletics.
His contract will pay him $850,000 per year through June 2027, with annual raises of $50,000 to cap his salary at $1.05 million in the final year of the deal. He will receive a $30,000 signing bonus, according to The State.
It’s too bad Trevor Lawrence still isn’t Clemson’s quarterback because Neff probably could have helped Trev with his accounting homework.
