Ex-KPMG Partner Is the King of Everyone in New Orleans Getting Totally Hammered Today

It's Fat Tuesday which means a whole lot of people in New Orleans have been drunk for the past 7-8 hours and the sober ones…well, no one is sober in New Orleans today. ANYWAY, for you rubes that don't know squat about Mardi Gras (this includes myself), the King of Carnival is the "ebullient Rex," and this year's Rex is none other than the former managing partner of KPMG's New Orleans office, Hardy Fowler, a 35-year veteran of the firm and New Orleans native. As Rex, it's Fowler's job to make sure everyone gets enough beads and King Kake (whatever the hell that is), among other duties but he really only has one goal for today:

[Fowler] said he has one goal: “I want everybody to have a great time. That’s the most important thing. … I need to be jovial, high-energy, very expressive.”

So if any of you catch Hardy with an empty glass, kvetching about the texture of the ice in the hurricanes, or otherwise putting a damper on your evening, just remind him that he could still be at KPMG. Well, more likely PwC. But either way, it will help turn his attitude around.
