KPMG Poaches Two More People From PwC and Issues a Press Release, Part VI

It’s pretty crazy that there have been so many new KPMG hires from around the globe lately who have come from PwC, because it wasn’t that long ago when KPMG was pretty much a playground for future PwCers. Big 4-on-Big 4 poaching is fun! Especially when it involves these two firms.

So let’s head over to the U.K. where the Queen’s KPMG couldn’t wait to share the news on June 8 that it poached not one but two people from PwC to work in a brand-new team within the firm’s Legal Services practice:

KPMG welcomes Alice Killingbeck this week to head up its new Family Office & Private Client Legal offering. Alice is a private client lawyer joining from PwC’s Private Business team to advise Family Offices and individuals on their private wealth, corporate structures and succession planning. Supporting Alice will be Harriet Kwarteng, a senior manager, who also joins from PwC.

Nick Roome, Head of Legal Services for KPMG, comments: “We are delighted to add a Family Office and Private Client Legal offering to our growing Legal Services practice, and are really pleased to welcome Alice and Harriet to the team. The synergy opportunities with our market leading Family Office and Private Client Tax business are tremendous and this also fits nicely with our global focus on Family Offices and Private Clients.

“Entering the Family Office and Private Client space is another stepping stone in our growth plans as we continue to build highly compelling new legal service offerings that are thoroughly integrated within our wider tax, deal advisory and consulting practices.”

Greg Limb, Head of KPMG’s Family Office and Private Client team, adds: “Compounded by the increasing mobility of our clients, their capital and their businesses need high-level, multi-jurisdictional advice on matters relating to tax, investments, property and residence, to name a few.

“Alice and Harriet will be a huge asset to our global network of Family Office and private client experts supporting clients to navigate the ever growing complex legislation they face.”

Alice Killingbeck

KPMG seemed to be more concerned about getting buzzword-laden quotes from Roome and Limb in the press release than talking much about Killingbeck’s and Kwarteng’s backgrounds. So we’ll give it a shot.

Killingbeck worked at PwC for nearly five years as a solicitor within the firm’s Private Client Private Business team, where she advised ultra-high-net-worth individuals on their private wealth, corporate structures, and succession planning, according to her LinkedIn profile.

Kwarteng, who is also a private client lawyer, worked at PwC for nearly three years, where she advised clients on how to manage their businesses and wealth, as well as on how to develop their philanthropic strategy, according to her LinkedIn profile.

It’s good to see the poaching rivalry between KPMG and PwC is alive and well, thanks largely to KPMG. Now KPMG just needs to work on keeping Mazars’ grubby hands out of its cube farms. More on that tomorrow.
